4. Lakers Clinch 7th Seed.

SoFi NBA Play-In Tournament

LeBron and the Lakers move on after beating the Pelicans in the 7/8 matchup game of the SoFi Play-In Tournament. The Lakers draw the Defending Champion Nuggets in the first round after defeating New Orleans 110-106. The Lakers went ahead by as much as 18 in the second half and were able to hold off the Pelicans, who lost Zion Williamson late in the game.

The Lakers facing off against the Nuggets creates an amazing first round matchup. The defending NBA Champions are led by Nikola Jokic who is having yet another MVP Caliber Season and will match up with Anthony Davis. The Lakers big man was the topic of an odd discussion by Reggie Miller who seemed to forget basketball while talking about late game free throws. The current NBA Western Conference Standings are:

  1. Oklahoma City

  2. Denver

  3. Minnesota

  4. LA Clippers

  5. Dallas

  6. Phoenix

  7. LA Lakers

  8. Sacramento/New Orleans

3. Zion Williamson goes down... again:

Williamson was visibly upset after dominating the game. Zion scored 40 and grabbed 11 rebounds while dishing out 5 assists. However, he left the game with yet another injury. When asked, coach Willie Green said "...it's left leg soreness and will receive imaging (today)".

Zion making moves

The big game from Zion did not keep NBA on TNT Analyst, Shaquille O'Neal from ripping him post game for not finishing the game. Charles Barkley stated "I don't think that I would have left the game." The injury is the latest in a string of injuries that have plagued the Pelicans superstar since entering the league.

With the loss, New Orleans will face off with Sacramento for the final seed in the Western Conference on Friday Night.

Caitlin Clark goes 1 overall.

2. The WNBA Draft Sets Record Viewing

Caitlin Clark, Angele Reese and Camron Brink pave the way forward with the WBNA as they set a viewing record for the W's Draft with 2.44 Million viewers! Previously, the WBNA record for viewership happened when UCONN's Diana Taurasi was drafted in 2004 with 601,000 viewers.

As a comparison, the 2023 WNBA Draft had a total of 572,000 viewers. This means the 2024 edition of the WNBA Draft improved by 307%! This was the highest viewed show in the WNBA since 2000 when the New York Liberty lead by Rebecca Lobo faced off with Sheryl Swoops, Cynthia Cooper and the Houston Comets (defunct).

Warriors eliminated from the playoffs.

1. The End of a Dynasty:

The Golden State Warriors' 118 - 94 loss to the Sacramento Kings on Tuesday night, signified what could be the end of the Warriors Dynasty. With Klay Thompson's contract ending and Draymond Green's decreasing ability, the Warriors are looking the end directly in the eyes.

Steph Curry stated that he doesn't see himself without "those two guys" in the post game press conference. The Warriors will be navigating a difficult course going forward. The team has a $205 Million Taxable Amount with a $176 Luxury Tax Hit. That is the largest in the NBA by far and the team cannot keep paying this type of money and penalties to deal with the headaches... without the Championships.

Curry has 2 years left on his deal while Chris Paul has 1 year left and Draymond and Andrew Wiggins have contracts that expire in 2027.
